As all of you know, I made the New Years resolution to read more books (by one) then I have ever read in a single year. This magical number is 86. I had high hopes when the year started, but now that we are halfway through the fourth month, with only eight more months to go, I'm standing at only 18 books read. This is below what I would have liked for my pacing. I could "step it up", but where would the joy and fun be. I'd just be a reading robot.
With that said and a heavy heart I've decided to cut this goal back to just one more book read than I read last year. Last years magic number was 41. I know I will easily surpass this new goal, but I want to enjoy life and other pursuits this year. Additionally, I'm taking a summer school class the month of July and planning on working full time that month as well, so that knocks out a whole month of pleasure reading.
As always, I appreciate your comments or book recommendations. ~Dianna
To reach my goal of 52, or one per week, I'm "supposed" to have read 14 by now, compared to the 11 I have finished. I'm close to finishing another, and halfway through number 13 (which, admittedly, is a re-read).
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you for paring down your goal - it's definitely better to enjoy what you're reading, and to have time for other things, than it is to just churn out books like it's a job! you've got one of those, plus school, you don't need to turn your hobby into one, too! :)
